How to choose a gooseneck or deckover trailer
Goosenecks trade a little garage space for a lot of stability: the hitch sits over the rear axle of the tow truck, so heavy loads track straighter and turn tighter than a bumper-pull. Look at landing gear, coupler rating and deck length plus beavertail — for tractors and heavy iron, dual jacks and 12K+ axles are worth the upgrade.
Gooseneck features that matter
| Option | Best for | Notes |
|---|
| Over-axle hitch | Stability & turning | Best for the heaviest loads |
| Dual landing gear | Hitching heavy | Holds the nose securely |
| Deck + beavertail | Loading equipment | Mega ramps with spring assist |
| 12K+ axles | Payload | For tractors and big tonnage |
