One of the first decisions when buying a shipping container is whether to go new (one-trip) or used. Both are sold wind- and water-tight — the difference is condition, lifespan and price.
New / One-Trip Containers
One-trip containers have made a single cargo voyage and arrive in near-pristine condition: clean paint, solid floors, smooth doors. They are the best choice for conversions (offices, homes, pools) and anywhere appearance matters. Expect to pay a premium for that condition.
Used Containers
Used (cargo-worthy or WWT) containers cost less and are perfect for straightforward storage. They show normal cosmetic wear — surface rust, dents and faded paint — but remain structurally sound and weather-tight.
How to choose
- Storage on a budget? Used.
- Conversion or visible location? New / one-trip.
- Long-term asset? New holds value and lasts longer.
